When I met Alison and Brian over beers before their wedding, I could tell right away that working with them was going to be a lot of fun. They told me they mostly cared about having images of their friends and family to look back on down the road. They were incredibly laid back and were a blast to follow around all day.

My day started at the Monte Cristo Ballroom – The bridal party got ready at a different location and the groomsmen arrived before Alison and her bridesmaids. I had a chance to observe the guys hang out in the Executive Lounge for a while.

Alison’s aunt prepared all the flowers for the day. While she was helping pin corsages on the groomsmen, the girls arrived and Brian and Alison were ready for their First Look.

The ceremony at First Presbyterian Church in Everett was officiated by Alison’s uncle and was short and beautiful. I heard so many guests comment on the incredible stained glass windows.

The Monte Cristo Ballroom was a fantastic location for the reception. I loved the chandeliers, fireplace, and balcony. It’s a great venue choice in Everett if you’re looking for an elegant atmosphere, professional staff, and good food.

My favorite moment by far was a Norwegian tradition in which the bride lifts the top ring of the kransekake (ring cake) and the number of rings that separate predict the number of children in their future… Just look at Alison’s face when the entire stack came up at once. Someone behind me shouted, “17!!!”.

Dance party! And of course the always-entertaining photobooth…

A big thank you goes out to Alison, Brian, and your families and friends for being awesome subjects and throwing a great party. I hope I’ll get the chance to shoot at the Monte Cristo Ballroom again soon!
